When people are born during this Retrograde planetary motion is going on, they have different type of tendencies that cannot be understood under normal astrological principles. It affects the whole chart especially when any of the planets such as Mars, Jupiter and Saturn becomes retrograde. Because they aspect more than one house. Some authors and books say that their aspects also become retrograde aspect.

In the above horoscope Jupiter, Mars and Mercury are Retrograde planets.

Lagna/Asc is Scorpio/Vrichika.

Normally Mars aspects 4^th, 7^th and 8^th position from where it is placed.

If Mars is in direct Motion, it,

Aspects 8^th house Gemini/Mithuna with its 4^th aspect.

Aspects 11^th house Sun in Virgo/Kanya with its 7^th aspect.

Aspects 12^th house Mercury in Libra/Thula with its 8^th aspect.

And here Mars is placed in Pisces/Meena 5^th house from Lagna and also Ascendant lord/Lagnadhipathi.

Predictions by astrologers will be given according to the above.

But in Reality,

In the above horoscope as Mars is in Retrograde Motion., its aspect will also be in reverse direction.

Retrograde Mars will,

Aspects 2^th house Saggitarius/Dhanus with its 4^th aspect.

Aspects 11^th house Sun in Virgo/Kanya with its 7^th aspect.

Aspects 10^th house Venus & Ketu in Leo/Simha with its 8^th aspect.

Mars is in the 5^th house from Lagna, but prediction should be given for 4^th house from lagna as it is retrograde Mars should be taken as it is placed in 4^th house with Rahu.

Predictions should be given as stated above. This is one of the kind. Still there are many rules.

For ex.,

Benefic/Good planet when retrograde becomes Malefic/Bad,

Malefic/Bad planet when retrograde becomes Benefic/Good,

Exalted/Uccha planet when retrograde becomes Debilitated/Neecha,

Debilitated/Neecha planet when retrograde becomes Exalted/Uccha.

Etc... and still more complicated rules.

Let us come back to the point, now here comes the confusion and complex part. Which aspects should be taken into consideration. பொதுவாக செவ்வாய் தான் இருக்கும் இடத்திலிருந்து 4, 7 மற்றும் 8 ஆம் இடத்தை பார்வை  செய்யும்.

செய்வ்வாய் நேராக நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்தார் என்றால், அவர் தனது, 

- 4 ஆம் பார்வையால் 8 ஆம் வீடான மிதுனத்தையும்,

- 7 ஆம் பார்வையால் 11 ஆம் வீடான கன்னியையும், அங்கு அமர்ந்திருக்கும் சூரியனையும்,

மேலே உள்ள ஜாதகத்தில் செவ்வாய் வக்கிர கதியில் உள்ளார், அவரது பார்வைகளும் பின்னோக்கியவாரு அமைந்திருக்கும்.

ஆகவே செவ்வாய் தனது,

- 4 ஆம் பார்வையால் 2 ஆம் வீடான தனுசையும்,

- 7 ஆம் பார்வையால் 11 ஆம் வீடான கன்னியையும் அங்கு அமர்ந்திருக்கும் சூரியனையும்,

- 8 ஆம் பார்வையால் 10 ஆம் வீடான சிம்ம‌ ராசியையும் அங்கு அமர்ந்திருக்கும் சுக்கிரன் மற்றும் கேதுவையும் பார்வை செய்து தனது ஆதிக்கத்தை செலுத்துவார்.

மேலும் பலன் கூறும் போது செவ்வாய் லக்னத்திலிருந்து 5 ஆம் இடத்தில் இருப்பதால் அதற்கேற்ப பலனை கூறாமல் அவர் 4 ஆம் வீட்டில் அமர்ந்திருந்தால் என்ன பலனோ அதை கூற வேண்டும். ஏனேனில் வக்கிர கிரகங்களுக்கு பலன் கூறும் போது அவை இருக்கும் இடத்திலிருந்து அதற்கு முந்தை வீட்டிம் இருப்பது போல் நினைத்து பலன் கூற வேண்டும். 

ஆக மேலே உள்ள ஜாதகத்தில் செவ்வாய் ராகுவுடன் சேர்ந்திருந்தால் என்ன பலனோ அதை கூற வேண்டும்.

இவ்வாறாக மேற்கூறியவாறு பலன்களைச் சொல்லவேண்டும். இது ஒரு வகை தான். 

இன்னும் நிறைய விதிகள் உள்ளன,உதாரணத்திற்கு,

- சுப கிரகம் வக்கிரம் ஆனால் அது அசுப கிரகமாகிவிடும்,

- அசுப கிரகம் வக்கிரம் ஆனால் அது சுப கிரகமாகிவிடும்,

- உச்ச‌ கிரகம் வக்கிரம் ஆனால் அது நீச்ச‌ கிரகமாகிவிடும்,

- நீச்ச‌ கிரகம் வக்கிரம் ஆனால் அது உச்ச‌ கிரகமாகிவிடும்,

இன்னும் பல குழப்பிவிடும் விதிகள் உள்ளன‌.

நாம் விஷயத்திற்கு வருவோம், மிக கடினமான குழப்பமான விஷயம் என்வென்றால், எந்த பார்வைகளை நாம் எடுத்துக்கொள்வது. எல்லா சமயங்களிலும் வக்கிர கிரகங்களிண் பின்னோக்கிய பார்வைகள் பலன்களை சரிவரக் கூற இயலாத நிலையில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது. எனவே இவ்வாறான ஜாதகங்களை புதிதாக ஜோதிடம் கற்பவர்கள் பார்க்காமல் இருப்பதே சிறந்தது.

மிகவும் பிரபலமான ஜோதிடர்கள், அதாவது தொலைக்காட்சியில் நாம் தினமும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்களில் சிலர் தவறாக பலன்களை கணித்துள்ளனர். மூன்று பேர்களை நான் சந்தித்திருக்கிறேன். அவர்கள் ஜோதிட சாஸ்த்திரத்தில் மிகவும் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர்கள். அவர்கள் கணித்ததில் எந்த பிழையும் இல்லை. கிரகங்கள் வக்கிரம் இல்லாமல் இருந்திருந்தால் அவர்கள் கூறிய பலன்கள் அனைத்தும் 100 சதவிகிதம் நடந்திருக்கும். ஆனால் வக்கிரமானதால் அவர்கள் கூறிய பலாபலன்கள் நடக்கவில்லை.

மேலும் நிறையை ஜோதிடர்கள் வக்கிர கிரகங்களுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்காததால் அவர்கள் கூறிய பலன்கள் எல்லாம் பொய்யாகி விட்டது. இதற்கு வக்கிர கிரகம் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட சரியான மூல நூல்களும், ஜோதிட‌ ஆராய்ச்சிகளும் இல்லாமல் போனது தான் காரணம் எனலாம்.

What is meant by Retrograde Planets ?

Retrograde is called as Vakra in vedic astrology. In Tamil Vakkira grahangal. The synonym for Vakra in both Tamil and Sanskrit is Crooked mind. Hence it explains that planet in Vakra or Retrogression becomes crooked and does not yield good results for the concerned chart.  But there are many rules we will see those later.

Reverse or Backward Motion is called Retrogression or Retrograde motion of planets. To explain it further,

- Planets Sun and Moon always move only in Clockwise/Direct Motion. They never retrograde.

- Planets Rahu and Ketu always move only in Anti-Clockwise/Reverse motion(Retrograde Motion).

- Planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn move in both direct and backward motion.

Note: Planets do not move in reverse direction astronomically in Space. From the Earth’s point of view those planets seem to move in opposite direction i.e., in direction opposite to earth sometimes due to the speed. It is actually an illusion to the viewer in Earth. But it is a major element in Astrology.

You can also check in your horoscope whether any of the above 5 planets are retrograde i.e., whether you are born when any planet is retrograde motion. Open your chart in Jagannatha Hora.

In the above example chart Mars, Jupiter and Mercury are Retrograde. That is they are moving in anti-clockwise/reverse direction.

The effects of Retrograde planet vary from chart to chart. If there are more than 2 Retrograde planets in a horoscope chart excluding Rahu and Ketu, then that particular chart is very difficult to predict. Even if an astrologer predicts, the predictions may surely go wrong. This is not due to the inability of astrologers to predict, but it is due to the effects of Retrograde planets. We will see in detail about Retrograde planets in the upcoming posts.

வக்கிர கிரகங்கள் என்றால் என்ன?

பொதுவாக கிரகங்கள் நேராக அதாவது கடிகார சுற்றில் சுற்றும். ராகு மற்றும் கேது எப்போதும் பின்னோக்கிச் சுற்றும். சில சமயங்களில் நேராக 

சுற்றிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் கிரகங்கள் சிறிது காலம் பின்னோக்கிச் சுற்றுவது போல் தோன்றும் அத்தகயை நிகழ்வையே ஜோதிடத்தில் வக்கிரகதி என்கிறார்கள். இன்னும் சரியாக சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றால்,

- சூரியன் மற்றும் சந்திரன் எப்போதுமே நேராகத் தான் சுற்றுவார்கள். இவர்களுக்கு வக்கிரகதி எப்போதுமே கிடையாது.

- ராகு மற்றும் கேது எப்போதுமே பின்னோக்கிச் தான் சுற்றுவார்கள்.

- புதன், சுக்கிரன், செவ்வாய், குரு மற்றும் சனி நேராகவும் சிறிது காலம் பின்னோக்கியும் சுற்றும் தன்மை உண்டு.

குறிப்பு: கிரகங்கள் சூரிய மண்டலத்தில் இயற்கையாக அதாவது விஞ்ஞான ரீதியாக‌ பின்னோக்கிச் சுற்றும் தன்மை கிடையாது. அனால் நமது பூமியானது சூரியனின் சுற்று வட்ட பாதையில் சுற்றி கொண்டிருக்கும் போது மற்ற கிரகங்கள் சிறிது பின்னோக்கிச் சுற்றுவது போல் தெரியும். இதை தான் ஆங்கிலத்தில் ஓப்டிகல் இல்லுஷன் "Optical Illusion" என்பார்கள். எனவே இவ்வாறான நிகழ்வு ஒரு மாயை தான். ஆனால் ஜோதிட சாஸ்திரத்தில் வக்கிர கிரகங்களின் பங்கு மிகவும் முதன்மையானது.

வக்கிரமான கிரகங்களின் பலன்கள் ஒவ்வொரு ஜாதகத்திற்கு ஏற்றவாறு வித்தியாசப்படும். பொதுவாக ராகு கேதுவை தவிர்த்து மற்ற ஐந்து கிரகங்களில் இரண்டுக்கும் மேற்பட்டவை வக்கிர கிரகங்களாக இருந்தால் அந்த ஜாதகத்திற்கு பலன்கள் சொல்வது மிகவும் கடினமாகும். அப்படியே ஒரு ஜோதிடர் கூறினாலும், அப்பலன்கள் நடைபெறாமல் பொய்யாகிவிடும். இது ஜோதிடர்களின் பலன் கூறும் திறமையில் தவறில்லை, வக்கிர கிரகங்களின் செயல் மிகவும் சக்தி வாய்ந்தது. நேர் எதிர்மறை சிந்தனை தான். நாம் அடுத்து வரும் பகுதிகளில் வக்கிர கிரகங்கள் பற்றி மேலும் உள்ளார்ந்து பார்ப்போம்.

Are Nakshatras/Asterisms mentioned in Vedic Astrology 27 or 28 in number ?

There are 28 nakshatras in vedic astrology. For some reasons Abhijit Nakshatra has been removed and astrologers started using only 27 nakshatras each contributing 4 padas or quarters.

Where is Abhijit Nakshatra actually present ?

It is said that Abhijit does not contribute 4 padas. The exact location of Abhijit Nakshatra starts from 6°40" degrees and ends at 10°53"20 degrees in Makara/Capricon raasi.

In other words, Abhijit Nakshatra starts from the last pada of Uttara Shadha/Uttaradam Nakshatra and it extends up to 1/15th part of Shravana/Thriruvonam Nakshatra. It starts from 276 degrees 40 minutes to 280 degrees 53 minutes 20 seconds in natural kalachakra. The major portion of Abhijit Nakshatra lies in Makara Rashi and Meena Navamsha.

What is the importance of Abhijit ?

Abhijit is one of the most auspicious nakshatras. The muhurta of Abhijit is very important to be noted. Any work done in Abhijit Muhurta/Timing will surely give victory, as the name Abhijit itself means “Victorious” or "the One who cannot be defeated".

In Bhagavad Geeta, “Krishna said that He was Shiva among Rudras; He was Arjuna among Pandavas and He was Abhijit among Nakshatras.”

When is Abhijit Muhurta or Timing ?

Abhijit Muhurta starts 28 minutes before 12:00 noon and ends 28 minutes after 12:00 noon. Between 11:38 a.m and 12:28 p.m.

Some texts also say that during midnight 28 minutes before 00:00 28 minutes after is also Abhijit Muhurta.

Any auspicious undertaking can be made during this time if you want to victorious. Even if the day is bad due to combination of inauspicious combination tithi and nakshatra, you will get victory if you do in thing during Abhijit nakshatra.

Note: Some texts deny travelling in South Direction during this time.

The most important event recorded in the history of Bharat was Lord Rama was born at 12 noon and Lord Krishna was born around 12 midnight, approximately 11:50 p.m. Both avatars of Lord Vishnu was at Abhijit Muhurta. Lord Rama got victory against the battle with mighty King Ravana, similarly, Pandavas with Lord Krishna in their side won the battle of Kurukshetra against Gauravas. This denotes the importance of Abhijit Nakshatra.

Hence there were 28 nakshatras in the beginning and now 27 nakshatras were taken into account in regular astrology. While Abhijit is used only in Muhurta/Electional Astrology. Myth says regular 27 nakshatras are females, daughters of Prajapati Dakshan and were married to Moon and 28^th Abhijit was a male.

அபிஜித் நச்சத்திரமானது மிகவும் மங்களகரமான நச்சத்திரமாகும். அபிஜித் முகூர்த்தம் மிக மிக முக்கியமான ஒன்றாகும். எந்த ஒரு நற்ச்செயலையும் அபிஜித் முகூர்த்த நேரத்தில் செய்தால் அது வெற்றியில் முடியும். அபிஜித் என்றாலே "வெற்றிபெற்ற" என்பது பொருள்.

எனவே வாசகர்கள் அபிஜித் முகூர்த்தத்தை பரிசோதித்து வெற்றி பெற பய‌ன்படுத்துங்கள். பகல் 12 மற்றும் நள்ளிரவு 12 மணிக்கு 28 நிமிடங்கள் முன்னும் பின்னுமாக இம்முகூர்த்தம் தினமும் உண்டு.
